Guild

A Guild is a group of empires (limited to 40) joining together in a pact. A Guild is similar to a federation, cult, clan, society or gang. Guild members generally help each other out and make the game more fun. Every guild depends heavily on their leader on the direction and goals of the guild.

Before you join a Guild:-

Why should I join a Guild?

* Defense
Joining a good and powerful Guild automatically makes your empire stronger. This is because your Guild members can provide you with reinforcements when your empire is attacked at any planet. Members can also inform you if there are any urgent events such as a someone attacked you.

* Sharing of Information
When you are in a Guild you can actually track who is attacking who and so on. This can prove to be an important issue, as you can not only keep an eye out for your fellow members, but you can monitor any hostile events.

* More Fun
You can join a group of friends or make new friends.

* Team Work
Once you join a Guild it is much easier to work together as a team. For example, you can work together to bring down a single enemy, help each other defend against attacks and provide each other with suggestions on improving the empire.

Joining the right Guild

* The Leader`s Ability
A guild depends heavily on their leader. If the leader is quite inactive (that means he/she doesn`t do much for the guild) then the guild`s influence is quite limited.

* Guild Members
Player can approve your invitation from guild leader.

* State of the Guild
It may not be wise able to join a guild that has many enemies or is in the middle of conflict. Check out and ask around prior to joining a guild.

After you start a Guild:-
Background
After you start a guild you must set the goals, rules and tasks for your guild as shown in the following example.

Announcements
Announcement will appear at Guild Message. Leader can post any urgent announcements here.
Example:
2009-03-05 : New member = PoohBear
2009-03-03 : Peace with Disneyland
2009-03-01 : Declared war with Disneyland

Goal
Set a current goal of your guild.
Example:
- have x members

Rules
Set rules for your guild.
Example:
- do only maximum of 2x attack to others
- if anyone attacks any of our members 5x in a row, it is considered an act of war

Task
Organize tasks for members.
Example:
Stephen - Leader, update guild page
PoohBear - coordinate attacks
PinkBall - update guild website

Recruiting Members

How to recruit
One can scan or browse the site for potential recruits and then proceed to send that empire a private message asking him or her to join your guild. Posting messages in the forums is also allowed, but be very careful about flooding the channel.

Powerful members
The more powerful an empire, the more he/she can contribute to the guild? Wrong. A powerful empire doesn`t mean that member will be active, or obey the rules of the guild (set by the leader).

Members you want
The best members you can find are those who obey the rules set by the leader and are willing to work together as a team.

Spies and Double Agents

Universal Wars
During a war with other empires / guilds, be very careful about recruiting new members because they may be spies. Spies listen to your strategy and plans. This can prove to be very valuable information during war.

How to be a good leader?

Be online at least once a day
As a leader, you`ve got to cater to all your members` needs and provide them with guidance, because you`re the only person who can edit the Guild Details page which is accessible by all members.
There might be new applicants to your guild which needs attention.

Set rules for members
As a leader, you`ve got to have rules to govern your members. Rules are needed to keep them together and supportive of each other. Since the main purpose of guilds in 3700ad currently is for members to support each other with reinforcements.

Take action against rule offenders
There will always be players who are not playing by the rules. As leader of your federation, you will have to take action against them before it`s too late. There will be players who act like parasites in the game. They will stay in your guild getting reinforcements from other members in your guild. However, they do not provide sufficient or equal amount of reinforcements for other players.

Keep members growing together
If an empire becomes too strong, the empire will not get sufficient amounts of reinforcements.
